This spec home is in Golden Shores, steps from the pristine Golden Beach. The goal was to create a custom home that would be able to be quickly sold, yet differentiate itself enough to command the maximum price.

The volumes are intriguing and straightforward with high ceilings on both the first and second floor. The left front bedroom also has an additional thirty-inch clerestory to create a more interesting dialogue between the volumes.  There are not many modern homes yet in the neighborhood.  To break the stark modern home stereotype, and produce a more inclusive environment, we included a new take on the front porch with a front deck that leads off of the viewing room. It also contains a simple metal louver to add privacy and security. Both the garage and front doors are made of precious woods.  A band of natural coral stone on the right portion of the home allows the second story to appear to hover.  A louver over the front door adds privacy to the main foyer at the top of the stairs. A sliding louver system is included on both of the front second-floor terraces. The louvers can be closed to act as storm shutters from objects, and for privacy.

The living spaces on the ground floor were created to allow for two main zones. The left zone includes a dual height living room that extends off of the dining room. The right side of the home is focused around a large kitchen, with a separate dining area and an additional family room. Large closets in the center of the homes frame the central axis and add valuable storage space.

The second-floor terrace extends fifteen feet from the rear of the home to keep the furniture dry and usable at all times, even during a rain shower. The second floor includes three bedrooms and a large master suite.  The second-floor terrace is semi-enclosed to create an additional outdoor space that will be very private above the surrounding single story homes. This project was created as an Architectural Designer with Modis Architects.
